Classical Chinese and Naturopathic Medicinary The Stone-Atwater Classical Chinese and Naturopathic Medicinary, designed to be a service for patients, is located in the historic canning kitchen of the Stone-Atwater House. It offers a comprehensive selection of supplements, herbs, homeopathic remedies, tinctures and other products. The mission of the medicinary is to provide patients access to the highest quality, and most affordable products available. Products carried must meet our standards for excellence in manufacturing and be organically sourced whenever possible. The classical Chinese medicinary holds close to 200 different Chinese herbs. Most of the herbs are in the granule format. There are hundreds of commonly used individual herbs that are nearly always used in combination with other herbs to address various aspects of an illness. The prescribing of Chinese herbal medicine is based upon an individual Chinese medicine diagnosis using the techniques of pulse and tongue evaluation, in conjunction with the reading of other signs and symptoms, to form a unique pattern diagnosis. Once the prescription is written, the herbs are individually weighed then mixed together to form a unique, customized herbal formula.
